Humidifier or Vaporiser?
Humidifier is the name in the US for what is usually called a Vaporiser(sometimes spelled as vapouriser or vapourizer) in NZ and Australia. It isimportant to note that Crane Adorable, Drop and Travel Humidifer/Vaporisersare Cool Mist Ultrasonic Vaporisers, not to be confused with warm mist or steamvaporisers. We use the terms Humidifier and Vaporiser interchangeably whenreferring to Crane products.
Which is Better: Warm Mist or Cool Mist?
The major difference is that a Warm Mist Humidifier is heating the water toproduce steam vapour. Cool Mist Humidifiers use an Ultrasonic Nebulizer thatvibrates at a very high frequency to produce an extra fine water mist. When itcomes to humidifying a room, there is not much of a difference between the twotypes – both are equally effective. However, pediatricians and parents alikerecommend Cool Mist Humidifiers for babies and children because there is noheating element, which could be a safety risk for a child. Cool Mist Humidifierscan also save money on energy costs.
How does the Drop differ from the Droplet?
The Drop is bigger and has a large tank capacity. The Drop capacity is 3.75L andthe Droplet is 1.9L. The larger the tank, the longer your Humidifier will runfor before needing to be filled. Both Drop and Droplet will run continuouslythrough the night.
Can I Use Essential Oils With My Crane Vaporiser?
No, as traditional essential oils will interfere with the operation of theultrasonic membrane in your humidifier and cause the plastic to break down overtime. A glass or ceramic diffuser is more suited for use with oils. This Craneproduct has a vapour pad slot to replace the need to add essential oils to thetank. You can pop your essentials oils on to the vapour pad directly.
However it is primarily the cool mist produced by the Crane Humidifier thatis designed to provide relief for dry persistent coughs, nasal congestion, andcroup. Pediatricians recommend cool mist to relieve cold and flu symptoms,soothe the throat and reduce swelling.
